Spring Break in Jamaica: Plan Your Trip Today

Author: Melissa Aldridge

If you are like millions of other American college students, you look forward to spring break. So far, your year at college has been filled with classes, stressful homework assignments, and grueling tests. If you want to get away, let lose, and have fun on your upcoming spring break, you should choose your destination wisely. There are hundreds of popular spring break destinations, many of which are right in or near the United States. One you should closely examine is the island of Jamaica, located in the Caribbean.

Right about now, you may be asking yourself, what makes Jamaica the perfect spring break destination? For starters, there is the weather. As previously stated, Jamaica is located in the Caribbean. This area is known for its beautiful tropical weather. On average, temperatures range in the mid to upper 70s and 80 plus degrees is common in the summer. Jamaica does have a rainy season, but when that rain arrives it is nothing like what most Americans experience at home. It is all but guaranteed that you will get beautiful weather when on a Jamaica spring break vacation.

Next, there are the beautiful beaches. Jamaica beaches are some of the best in the world. You get warm and clear waters with white sandy beaches. What more could you ask for? These beaches are literally picture perfect. The greatest benefit of gaining access to Jamaica beaches is the related activities. Whether you want to jump in the water and enjoy a swim or spend your day lounging by the shoreline you can do so in style. In addition, popular beach activities include scuba diving, snorkeling, wind surfing, and waterskiing.

Most importantly, there are all-inclusive resorts. All-inclusive resorts in Jamaica come highly rated and recommended. This is due to their inclusions. When staying at an inclusive resort, the total cost of your stay includes your room, food, drinks, tips, qualifying airport transfers, and some forms of onsite entertainment. For example, if your beachfront resort includes the cost of snorkeling gear, you don't have to pay extra to rent elsewhere. Many spring break travelers who purchase all-inclusive travel packages find themselves saving money in the end. The more inclusions you use, the more money you save.

In keeping with all-inclusive resorts, they simplify the process of planning a trip. In addition to your food, drinks, tips, airport transfers, onsite entertainment, and room, airfare can be included too. Essentially, one travel plan books most of your trip. You are a college student. You have a busy life. Whether it be taking classes, studying for tests, volunteering on campus, working a part-time job, or socializing with friends, you don't have days or weeks to plan a Jamaica vacation. Luckily, you don't have to when you opt for an all-inclusive travel package and an all-inclusive Jamaica resort.

As for choosing your resort, you have many options. There are many all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica. What resort should you choose? There are themed resorts. Since you are in college, age restrictions should not be a problem. This basically gives you the freedom to stay at any resort on the island; however, you may want to avoid family resorts. These are resorts with scheduled activities for young children, onsite playgrounds, and well-advertised childcare services. Part of the fun on spring break is letting lose, having a good time, flirting with strangers, and drinking. You don't want to do this with a family of four looking over your shoulder the entire time. Adult only resorts, those that prohibit children under the age of 14, 16, or 18, are advised for your type of Caribbean vacation; spring break.

Finally, the biggest reason why your spring break trip should be a Jamaica Caribbean vacation is the scheduled events. Jamaica is a popular spring break destination. In these popular destinations, you find many scheduled events that are catered to college students just like yourself. Two popular bars and restaurants that are well-known for their spring break events include Margaritaville and Risky Business. Risky Business is located in the resort community of Negril and Margaritaville has locations in Negril, Ocho Rios, and Montego Bay.

Jazz In Paris: Swing From Paris

I Love Touring Paris - The Nineteenth Arrondissement

Author: Levi Reiss
The 19th arrondissement of northeastern Paris sits on the Right Bank of the Seine River. Its land area is approximately 2.6 square miles (slightly more than six and three quarters square kilometers). The population is about one hundred seventy thousand and the district is home to approximately seventy thousand jobs and two canals, the Canal Saint-Denis and the Canal de l'Ourcq. This district is fairly residential and is not visited by loads of tourists. In other words, by spending some time there you may get an idea of the real Paris; one that tends to be less expensive than the touristy arrondissements. The Parc des Buttes Chaumont built over a gypsum quarry and execution ground was designed for the famous Baron Haussmann, the guy who really redid Paris well over a century ago. It is one of the largest parks in Paris and contains many lovely features including English and Chinese gardens, a waterfall, and several cliffs and bridges. A major highlight is the Corinthian style Temple of Sybil that stands almost three hundred feet (about ninety meters) high. This park is one of the few in Paris where you are allowed to picnic on the grass. It has been called the most romantic park in Paris, one of the world's most romantic cities. What could be less romantic than a slaughterhouse? To say that Villette was a slaughterhouse is like saying the Empire State Building is a skyscraper. The original complex was built shortly after the American Civil War. It was large enough and busy enough to employ over three thousand people. But over time Villette became outdated. The new slaughterhouse, already obsolete when rebuilt in 1967, measured an astounding 900 feet long and 150 feet high (about 300 meters long and 50 meters high). Instead of tearing down the building and adding to the scandal those in power launched an international competition to design the Parc de la Villette. The Parc de la Villette is Paris's largest park. It englobes some 135 acres (55 hectares). It is the largest Parisian greenspace after the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery in the neighboring twentieth district. Of course we can't forget the huge forest parks, the Bois de Vincennes in the southeast and the Bois de Boulogne in the west both of which are huge in comparison. The "Prairies" are vast open spaces with an excellent view of the Canal de l'Ourcq that adds to its charm. The Prairie du Triangle near the park's center hosts regular free open-air movie screenings during the summer. Parc de la Villette has gardens unlike anywhere else. For example, the beautiful Jardin des Miroirs (Mirror Garden) is surrounded by 28 mirrors. The Jardin des Brouillards (Garden of the Fogs) is misty from all the rainbow-colored droplets generated by a multitude of fountains. A favorite, especially among the little ones, is the Jardin du Dragon (Dragon Garden) with a giant you know what that is about 250 feet (80 meters) long. And its tongue is a giant slide. Altogether there are ten thematic gardens linked by a winding blue path designed to look like a film strip. The bigger kids will prefer the six thousand seat Zenith concert hall which is devoted to rock music, political gatherings, and other noisy events. The Grand Hall of Villette has now been transformed into a cultural center and performance hall. Its showpiece is the Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie (City of Science and Industry), the biggest science museum in Europe. It's also the most expensive costing an estimated $642 million back in 1986. This masterwork attracts five million visitors a year. This museum was specifically designed to be hands on, educational, and fun. There is a planetarium, an IMAX theater, and a lot more. The Cite des Enfants (Kiddies Corner) has exhibitions specially designed for 3 to 12 year olds. For a change of pace visit the Cite de la Musique that's more of a concert hall than a museum. It includes the French national collection of musical instruments that you can hear in action. If you really want to get into the swing of things the world-famous Conservatoire national superieur de musique et de danse de Paris (Music and Dance Conservatory) has been relocated and faces Parc Villette. Conservatory tuition fees are quite modest and student meals are subsidized. However, there is the minor matter of a performance-based entrance exam. Of course you don't want to be in Paris without sampling fine French wine and food. Here is a sample menu: Start with Rillions (Big chunks of Pork cooked in Pork Fat). For your second course savor Becasse fouree au Foie Gras (Woodcock stuffed with Foie Gras). And as dessert indulge yourself with Tarte Tatin (Upside down Apple Tart). Your Parisian sommelier (wine steward) will gladly suggest appropriate wines to accompany each course. By the way, in part because of its proximity, Parisians tend to drink a lot of wine from the Loire Valley.

How to Choose Your Next Tropical Destination

Author: Matthew Kepnes

There are a lot of tropical destinations in the world but how do you know what island is best for your holiday? What if you want to set off to a hushed romantic tropical resort and end up on a youthful party island? What if your island doesn't have as a lot of scuba diving as you want or the prices were more than you wanted to pay? How do you locate where the best information is? What do you look for in choosing the best tropical destination for you? Often many people don't know where to start. Research from guidebooks can help but that is time consuming. Here are some tips that can help you make the process of choosing your tropical holiday easier and quicker:

For starters, pick what type of island holiday you. Do you want an active island vacation, great diving, a luxurious island resort, a off the beaten path island or will just any island do for you? Pick one thing that is a deal breaker for you so if you get jammed between two destinations, you use that one thing as the deciding factor.

Next, decide where on the planet you want to visit. Do you want your tropical holiday to be close to home or far away? Remember, the further away you travel, the more expensive the holiday will be. Even if the island is inexpensive, traveling there might not be.

Next, decide how much your budget will be. Some might choose this as the number one thing you should do but you can't decide how much you need to set aside or spend if you haven't decided where you are going yet. A semi-expensive tropical island close to home will need less money than an inexpensive active island far away. You'll need more money if you are flying to Bali from New York than you would if you were flying to Bermuda, even though Bali is a cheaper island.

Get some island names. Now that you know where in the world you want to go for your vacation, what you want to do there, and how much you want to spend, get a list of islands in that area to research. Draw up a list of five, otherwise the list becomes too long because there's so many islands in the world. Get a healthy mix of popular island destinations and off the beaten path islands.

Research your tropical islands. What is the food like? What is the diving like? How much does it cost? Who goes there? Is it easy to get too? Does it have what you want? Head to the store for a guidebook or do some online research at websites like best tropical islands.

Make a final decision. Now that you have narrowed your list down, make a decision. This is the hardest part, huh? All of those islands look good. Can't we just go to them all? Sadly,no. We have to choose one. If you are having trouble picking one, use the deal breaker we discussed in step one to decide. All things being equal, this deal breaker should be the deciding factor. That way you stay focused and don't over think your decision. By staying focused, you can go with your gut and make the decision much less painful and avoid second guessing.

So now you have picked your tropical island, go start booking flights and hotels. If you follow these guidelines, you can help get to your perfect island getaway quicker by spending less time deciding where to go and more time at the location. Once there, you know that island will be exactly what you want and will never have to say "It was good but..." as no one wants to say that! So enjoy your tropical destination and have a fruity drink for us!

Top Five Exotic Honeymoons in Cuba

Author: Emma Lelliott

Cuban honeymoons provide plenty for newlyweds to see, do and take part in, including great beaches and interesting sight seeing opportunities. However, the island also offers less obvious and much more exotic thrills for those who want them. We count down the top five honeymoons in Cuba to whet your appetite and give couples a few ideas they might not have thought of for that truly memorable honeymoon...

Cuba: The Trip Back: An Exile''s Journey Through Today''s Cuba

5. Diving Honeymoons

Cuba and the Caribbean have some of the best diving in the world. The clear waters, amazing diversity of sea life and huge range of corals and rock outcrops to explore make it ideal for normal or scuba diving. Honeymoons around Cuba on scuba diving trips are incredible, as they let you experience the wonderful diversity and beauty of the ocean floor with the one you love.

4. Following in Castro's footsteps

For history buffs and those who like walking holidays, why not spend your Cuban honeymoon following in the footsteps of Cuba's most famous revolutionaries? You can follow the trail of Fidel Castro's revolutionary guerrillas from the playa Las Coloradas, into central Cuba and beyond. Walking tours can be organised and you can get a real feel of the adventure and hardship of the freedom fighters on your way through the island's interior. You can also visit the many monuments and statues to the fighters along the way and in your final stop in the capital of Havana.

3. Cigars, Coffee and Rum

Cuba is synonymous with cigars, coffee and rum, and any trip to the island should include trying some if not all of these to give you a real taste of the island itself. However, you can take it one step further and spend part or your entire honeymoon in Cuba touring the plantations, factories and distilleries of the island, sampling the best brands and the most luxurious hand made verities. Sitting with your loved one sipping the best the island has to offer, or indulging in that luxurious vice of cigar smoking together is enchanting while watching the sun set over the Caribbean.

2. Swimming with dolphins

Swimming with dolphins has routinely been chosen as one of the top experiences to have before you die, and when better to do it than when on your honeymoon? Cuba waters and the surrounding Caribbean are teaming with these friendly mammals, and tours, excursions and swims are organised to give you the best experiences possible while causing no harm or anxiety to the dolphins themselves. A magical moment to have together while on honeymoon in Cuba.

1. Salsa

The passionate island moves to its own unique rhythm, and you and your partner can get swept up on it on a salsa honeymoon in Cuba. There are lessons available for the uninitiated and dances and dance halls ready for those with a real love of salsa. It's a perfect way to spend your honeymoon in Cuba, as the dance is all about fire, joy and passion, and will start your marriage as you mean to go on...

Wanna Party In Phuket?

Author: Culture And Customs Of Thailand
href="http://www.articlesbase.com/authors/bruce-badger/120645.htm">Bruce Badger

Ah Phuket. The jewel in Thailand’s crown, the playground of the rich and famous, the perfect island retreat with so many beaches to choose from. Nobody could deny Phuket’s charms, but when it comes to nightlife, if you don’t know where to go, you’ll probably end up listening to renditions of the Macarena all night long. If that’s your thing then great, but if you need something a bit more special in a night out, here’s where to look.

For true clubbers

Club Lime has been creating a bit of a stir in Phuket. Located on the beach road as part of the Club Andaman Resort, Club Lime features heavy doses of house music served up by the resident DJs. The venue doubles as a restaurant, so you can grab dinner in the evening and sit back and relax until the night rolls in.

The intoxicating range of cocktails are seductive and a snatch at about 200 baht each. During the week there are tribal, drum ‘b’ bass and electro nights on rotation. The venue also feature a killer soundsystem and one of the most illuminated backbars on the island. Previous guests DJs include DJ Nakadia and Thai superstar “Jay” Montonn Jira. Check it out. Visit www.clublime.info for more information.

For the rockers

If you’re into classic hair rock, there is only one place to be: Rock City. Again, on the beach road in Patong, located next to Club Lime, Rock City features live bands every night playing the best of Bon Jovi, Van Halen and Queen. It’s classic rock at its best and every night it’s packed. The highlight of the roster is definitely the Metallica tribute band.

Although you won’t hear any original material, you’ll be sure to have a blast. The drinks are reasonably priced at about 200 baht each, and you might even hear a couple of Thai rock songs during your stay. Rock City is a fun night out and a favorite with both locals and travelers.

Visit the website at www.rockcity.cc

For late-night dancing

Baya Beach, to be found in Patong at the end of Soi Bangla opposite the beach, is where islanders and those in the know go to party after the regular clubs close their doors. The venue gets busy, but the music is funky, ranging from straight-up hip hop to tougher house and electro music. There aren’t many other places around that stay open as late as Baya Beach.

For local flavor

If you want to do it like the locals, there are two great places to check out in Phuket City. The first is Timberhut, located on Yaowarat Rd, where you’ll find local bands and DJs entertaining throngs of locals. A word of warning though: it gets very busy at weekends.

Another great venue is Blue Marina, located in the basement of the Phuket Merlin Hotel on Yaowarat Rd. Few travelers make it to Blue Marina, but it’s a treat. Get there early, find yourself a table, buy a bottle of your favorite spirit and relax until the bands come on. Then it’s time to get up and dance around your table to Thai rock songs. It’s great fun. When the bands have finished, you’ll be treated to an assortment of hip hop, rock and curious pop songs courtesy of the resident DJ.

For something a bit more refined

Although it sounds like some kind of Aussie pub, Skipper’s Sports Bar and Restaurant is one of the most stylish places to chill at in Phuket. Located at Royal Phuket Marina, the food here is top notch, with a variety of Eastern and Western dishes on the menu. As the name suggests, you can also catch all the latest sports action on the widescreen TVs. The venue is ideal, with the outdoor area looking out over the lagoon to the large boats and the water. When the sky is clear and the stars are out, Skipper’s can be quite the romantic venue.

Visit www.skippersphuket.com for information.

Best for jazz

Ratri Jazztaurant is one for all you jazz buffs out there. The venue doubles as a restaurant and live music venue, with spectacular views across the sea and Kata Beach. This place has it all. Amazing sunsets, delectable food, great music from Manolo and his band, and potent cocktails.

The venue is located on Kata Hill and makes for a refreshing change from standard nightlife practices. The open-air element of the venue is its best feature as it really utilizes the location. For further information visit www.ratrijazztaurant.com

As you can see, Phuket’s nightlife has something for everyone. Sometimes you have to just look a little bit beyond the well-trodden path to find it.
